Our Origin Story

Vancouver Island Women Connect was born from a simple observation: women entrepreneurs on our island were creating incredible businesses, but often in isolation.

In early 2024, our founder noticed a pattern in conversations with fellow business owners across Vancouver Island. Whether in Victoria, Nanaimo, or the Comox Valley, women entrepreneurs shared similar challenges: the desire for authentic connection, the need for business-focused feedback, and the wish to collaborate with others who truly understood their journey.

What began as smaller local meetups quickly revealed a deeper hunger for meaningful community. Women weren't just looking for networking—they were seeking a supportive ecosystem where they could be vulnerable about business challenges, celebrate successes without judgment, and build lasting relationships that make all the difference.

Vancouver Island Women Connect (The VIWC) emerged as the answer—a dedicated space where women entrepreneurs across our island can find their business tribe, share their expertise, and grow together in both business and life.

Our community is built on the belief that women succeed better together, and that Vancouver Island's unique entrepreneurial spirit thrives when we connect, collaborate, and support each other's visions.

Sarah Fox

As creator of Indygirl, I help neurodivergent entrepreneurs brand their businesses. I offer everything from logos and visual identity to websites and social media content. I work with my clients in a very flexible and collaborative way and these qualities are what I take out into my community. I am known for a simple but thorough process that often leads to brand success on the first try! My creative director, Indy (my big black cat,) has become my own brand's mascot in a lightheartedness that I often bring to the brands I create.

Search Specialist

Geraldine Maclear

I help you get found online in traditional searches like Google and the growing field of AI Search. I also write copy to get your website messaging just right. With a background in software engineering, I'm comfortable dealing with tech issues. Hourly coaching is available for questions or to get a quick "SEO health check" of your site. My business name is Happy Pedals because I'm crazy about bikes! I look forward to connecting.

As founder of Flourish Marketing Co., I help business owners ditch the marketing overwhelm and get visible without selling their soul to social media. With AI as your secret weapon, marketing gets faster, smarter, and way more doable. After 20+ years in the digital space, I know what works and what's just noise. I teach entrepreneurs how to use tools like ChatGPT to plan sharp strategies, create standout content, and build a presence that actually gets results. Think of me as your shortcut to showing up like a total pro with less hustle and way more ease.

As founder of Shift Adventure & Wellness, I lead nature-based retreats and programs that support women in reconnecting with themselves and the natural world. With a background in education, wilderness leadership, and meditation, I bring a grounded and heart-centered approach to personal and professional growth. As a member of the Vancouver Island Women Connect leadership team, I am passionate about building community and supporting women entrepreneurs through connection, collaboration, and shared inspiration.

As founder of Creative Dynamics Virtual Services, I know firsthand the juggle of growing a business while raising a family. As a proud Métis woman, neurodivergent entrepreneur, and mom of two, I started Creative Dynamics to give other moms the chance to work from home and thrive. Over the past 6+ years, it has grown into a full-service, boutique-style team serving service-based businesses across Canada (and beyond).
